The Harrison School of Music has taught piano guitar voice and drum lessons to hundreds of students since opening in 2011. Our piano guitar voice and drum classes are offered at our school, conveniently located on Halstead Avenue near the Harrison Train Station.
Our qualified piano guitar voice and drum teachers all have university degrees in music or years of performance experience and have experience teaching children and adults. The lessons are all conducted on acoustic pianos, acoustic drums, and electric or acoustic guitars in our individual teaching rooms. Parents are welcome to sit in on the lessons or observe the classes through our glass doors.
Piano Lessons: The earliest we recommend starting piano lessons for children is 5 years old. Students younger than 5 can have difficulty reaching the distance between keys because of hand size.
Guitar Lessons: 5 years old is the earliest we recommend for guitar lessons. Guitar playing requires a fair amount of pressure on the fingertips from pressing on the strings. Bass guitar students generally are 8 years old and older.
Drum Lessons: The average age of our youngest drum student is 6. This varies greatly depending on the size of the child. They have to be able to reach both the pedals and cymbals.
Voice Lessons: We start vocal lessons at age 6 and up. The rigors of vocal breathing technique are adjusted as the student gets older and develops greater lung capacity.
